"Fiber One® Fiber Friend Face-Off" Puts Fiber on the Main Stage…Game-Show Style
Fiber One® Delivers Fiber Fun and Knowledge in New Online Game
Minneapolis, MN, March 9, 2009 /PRNewswire/ — While most Americans should be getting at least 25 grams of fiber each day1 as part of a healthy diet, 9 out of 10 do not get enough2. Putting fiber in the spotlight, consumers can learn about daily fiber requirements in an educational, fun and interactive way by playing the Fiber One® Fiber Friend Face-Off. This new, game-show style online game available at www.fiberfriendfaceoff.com now through April 11, 2009, aims to put players' fiber expertise to the test.
"Many people don't know how much fiber they need each day, and this game is an entertaining way to learn about the important nutrient," said Tanya Zuckerbrot, registered dietitian and author of The F-Factor Diet™. "The Fiber Friend Face-Off also helps show that there are easy ways to integrate fiber into your diet with smart and delicious food choices, such as Fiber One yogurt and convenient Fiber One chewy bars."
The Fiber One Fiber Friend Face-Off introduces players to a game-show stage, where they can face-off against weekly opponents to successfully reach the daily recommended grams of fiber. After making a personal avatar or selecting a computer-based avatar, players select foods from the game's pantry, which is filled with fiber-rich and other foods. As participants select fiber foods, the Fiber One Fiber Friend Face-Off game show scoreboard adds up the number of grams per serving of each food item and reveals the grand total. The player to reach the Daily Value of fiber first wins the game. During and at the conclusion of the game, players can download Fiber One coupons for flavorful products including Fiber One yogurt, chewy snack bars, ready-to-eat breakfast cereal, toaster pastries, muffin mix and pancake mix.
In addition to coupons, players will be entered into a sweepstakes for daily prizes (cash card worth $50), weekly prizes (Flip Video™ camcorder) and one grand prize luxury spa getaway for two. All visitors are entered into the sweepstakes by logging in (one entry per day), and participants will receive five additional sweepstakes entries each day they play.
"Fiber One proves that fiber doesn't taste like cardboard any more, and the Fiber One Fiber Friend Face-Off will help teach people that," says Ryan Stalker, associate marketing manager for Fiber One yogurt. "Along with Fiber One yogurt, Fiber One bars, cereal, toaster pastries, muffin mix and pancake mix can all offer health conscious consumers a tasty way to meet their fiber needs."
