New Animated Web Video Series Targets New Parents & Child Safety In The Home
Webisode debuts to remind parents of infants, babies and toddlers about potential home hazards
New York, NY (September 10, 2008) /PRNewswire/ — For new parents and caregivers, nothing is more important than child safety. And that's why the Window Covering Safety Council has created SuperBaby -– a brand-new online video series about a superhero who fights to help keep infants and young children safe from the potential hazards window cords can pose. SuperBaby consists of several 90- second webisodes targeting 18-34 year-olds.
"The first thing so many new parents do these days is go online to get parenting information," said WCSC Executive Director Peter Rush. "We wanted to create webisodes about home safety that would appeal to this demographic; to provide them with safety information that is both educational and entertaining."
SuperBaby is part of the Window Covering Safety Council's ongoing effort to inform parents and caregivers about the potential hazards of window coverings. Many adults are unaware of the potential strangulation hazard of the window cord. According to information provided by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, since 1990 more than 200 infants and young children have died from accidentally strangling in window cords.
Beginning today and extending over the next several weeks, SuperBaby will appear in new bi-monthly episodes on several popular video channels such as YouTube and Yahoo as well as the WCSC's Web site. The videos were filmed in the New York metropolitan area and the animated SuperBaby flies around to new parents' homes to help keep their children safe.
"It's a neat, visual way to learn about this very important subject," said Rush.
