Take a Virtual Ride on SeaWorld San Antonio's JOURNEY TO ATLANTIS

SAN ANTONIO (February 23, 2007) / PRNewswire / -SeaWorld officials today revealed construction progress and a "virtual plunge," a virtual reality video of Journey to Atlantis, a combination roller coaster and water ride that splashes down at SeaWorld San Antonio in May.

Coaster fans and media were treated to a rare construction update with SeaWorld San Antonio general manager Dan Decker and vice president of creative development Kathleen Mundy today. Park officials pointed out that while the majority of the track is laid, there is still much to be done to complete the ride.

Journey to Atlantis is the first of its kind in the U.S.A. The family ride soars nearly 100 feet in the air, with a camelback and a twist — riders enjoy a portion of the ride backwards. Journey to Atlantis riders travel uphill, then the boats spin up to 360 degrees at the top of the first plateau. After the initial spin, boats are propelled backwards down a reverse camelback. At the crest of the second hill, the boats rotate again before plunging down the final hill and splashing through a wall of water and into a lake.

SeaWorld San Antonio opens for the 2007 season on March 3. Days and hours of operation vary. For detailed operating calendar, visit seaworld.com. SeaWorld is an Anheuser-Busch Adventure Park.
