Tech Councils Honor Local Chief Financial Officers
Henry Graham of TNS Named Public Company CFO of the Year Peter Barris of NEA Honored with Hall of Fame Award
Herndon, Va., June 10, 2005 - At a banquet of nearly 800 financial professionals last night co-hosted by the Northern Virginia Technology Council and the Tech Council of Maryland with participation from the DC Tech Council, winners were announced for the 2005 Greater Washington Technology CFO Awards. Now in its ninth year, the prestigious awards recognize chief financial officers for extraordinary achievement and excellence in promoting the development of the Greater Washington region's technology community.
"The winners recognized tonight are gifted financial executives and outstanding representatives of the Greater Washington technology community," said Bobbie Kilberg, President of NVTC. "Our region continues to set the standard for global technology excellence and each of our finalists and winners have set that standard of excellence in the financial arena."
An independent panel of community leaders selected winners for each of the following five categories: Public Company CFO of the Year, Private Company CFO of the Year, Financier of the Year, Community Service Award, and the Michael G. Devine Hall of Fame Award.
"The country looks to our region as a financial power center for technology," said Julie Coons, President of the Tech Council of Maryland. "Tonight's winners can be proud that their accomplishments help this region continue to be among the nation's leading technology productivity centers."
Henry Graham Jr., Transaction Network Services, Inc. (TNS), was named Public Company CFO of the Year. This award is presented to a chief financial officer for outstanding contributions to his/her public company's performance and accomplishments from January 2004 until present. Finalists for this award included: J. Matthew Bond, PRA International; Thomas E. Dunn, SI International; Joe Euteneuer, XM Satellite Radio; Stuart R. Lloyd, PEC Solutions, Inc.; and, Lota Zoth, MedImmune, Inc.
Allan R. Shure, FC Business Systems, Inc., was named Private Company CFO of the Year. This award is presented to a chief financial officer for outstanding contributions to his/her private company's performance and accomplishments from January 2004 until the present. Finalists for this award included: Grant Barber, Acterna, Inc.; Kevin Cheetham, SynXis Corp.; Alan Stewart, ICF Consulting; Tom Weston, Apogen Technologies, Inc.; and, Michael Zaramba, Stanley Associates.
Brian Hayhurst, The Carlyle Group, was named Financier of the Year. This award is presented to a venture capitalist, investment, merchant or commercial banker who has contributed to the economic development of the Greater Washington region's technology community. The other finalist for this award was: Roger Novak, Novak Biddle Venture Partners.
James McAndrews III, Tatum Partners, received the Community Service Award, which is given to a chief financial officer or financier who, in addition to excelling at his/her job, has given his/her time and energy to improving the Greater Washington region's technology community. Finalists for this award included: Marilyn Crouther, EDS; Chris Moss, Infinite Partnerships; Kevin McNerney, Updata Capital; and, Linda Gentry, Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology.
Peter Barris, New Enterprise Associates, was honored with the Michael G. Devine Hall of Fame Award, which recognizes a chief financial officer or financier whose contribution has significantly and uniquely impacted the Greater Washington region's technology community during the course of his/her career.
PricewaterhouseCoopers was the Platinum Sponsor of this year's event.
