Colin Nanka to Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro for Charity
NEW YORK, February 25th /PRNewswire/— Kilimanjaro Education Foundation (KEF) announces Colin Nanka will be attempting to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and raise funds for the organization's educational charitable causes. Nanka, who will be visiting Africa for the first time, will begin his nine-day trek up the Western Approach Route on March 6th. He will be led by Thomson Treks and Safaris of Watertown, MA.
"Over the past several years, I have been talking to friends and colleagues about embarking on a challenge similar to the New York City Marathon which I ran in 2002. I remember the excitement about training and the feeling of accomplishment which then made me think about climbing Mount Kilimanjaro," said Nanka. "After learning from a friend about KEF and its projects for underprivileged children in Tanzania, I decided I wanted to make my climb into a charitable one and help raise money to help improve children's education in Tanzania."
Roughly thirty percent of climbers who attempt to reach the summit don't make it, and Nanka has been improving his chances by working out more than usual. He has been spending a few days a week climbing 150 flights of stairs in his building, improving strength and endurance through boxing, hockey and working out with his trainer and friend, Yuri Elkaim. www.totalwellnessconsulting.ca/
