NBA All-Star and U.B.B.L. ™ Commissioner LeBron James Declares Winners of Nationwide Bubble-Blowing Competition

NEW YORK, NY · October 1, 2007 /PRNewswire/ — Cadbury Adams USA, makers of Bubblicious® bubble gum and part of Cadbury Schweppes plc, the world's leading bubble gum company, teamed up with NBA All-Star LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers to salute the champions of The Bubblicious Ultimate Bubble Blowing League™ (U.B.B.L.™). League commissioner LeBron James crowned three divisional champions today at the U.B.B.L. Ultimate Bubble Blowout™ Tournament, the culmination of a summer-long, nationwide competition to identify the best of the best in bubble-blowing.

Today's Ultimate Bubble Blowout Tournament winners—Marissa Chamison, 10, of Atlanta, Georgia; Justine Muldonian, 14, of Raynham, Massachusetts; and Nathan Drosopoulos, 17, of Raleigh, North Carolina — separated themselves from a field of more than 50 bubble-blowing all-stars who competed for the title of The Ultimate Bubble™ Blowing Champion at Dave and Buster's, located in New York City's Times Square. Divided into three age groups—8-10, 11-14 and 15-18—competitors earned the right to compete today by blowing the largest bubble in their respective regional qualifying tournaments.

"Bubble-blowing is a lot like playing basketball—you have to give it your all and perform at 110% to be a champion, and that's exactly what our winners did today," said LeBron James, the official U.B.B.L. commissioner. "For all of you other bubble-blowers out there, the off-season starts now so grab a pack of Bubblicious and start practicing for next year."

The U.B.B.L. took the nation by storm this summer, staging 12 regional tournaments in cities such as New York, Miami, Los Angeles and LeBron's hometown of Akron, Ohio. In addition to these organized tournaments, the U.B.B.L. made it easy for bubble-blowing fans to hold competitions right in their own backyards. Those who are either young in age or young at heart were invited to form their own leagues at the U.B.B.L. official Web site, www.theultimatebubble.com. Kids could also download cool, free league stuff from the Web site, such as a bubble meter to track the size of their bubbles; tips on how to blow big bubbles; team trading cards; iron-ons to make an official U.B.B.L. t-shirt and a template to create their own U.B.B.L. newspaper article.
