These were the themes of a Rally for Homeownership at O'Donnell Park in Milwaukee.

Hundreds of citizens from Milwaukee and other surrounding areas gathered to hear business leaders, politicians, community leaders and others express their support for homeownership.

Speakers at the rally noted that during the worst of the recession, roughly 3.2 million Americans were out of work as a result of the housing downturn.

The revitalization of the housing market — and the return of those jobs — is the key to a lasting economic recovery here in Milwaukee and across America.

Participants at the rally were called to reach out to their elected leaders to make sure they understand the importance of homeownership.
