WORLD’S LONGEST KICK LINE TO “KICK OFF” THIRD-ANNUAL DVT AWARENESS MONTH IN NEW YORK CITY

The Coalition to Prevent Deep-Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Kicks To Raise Awareness of DVT In Times Square

Story Summary:

The Coalition to Prevent DVT and Melanie Bloom lead DVT survivors, concerned citizens and chorus line members from the Broadway hit The Producers to “kick off” DVT Awareness Month 2006 in Times Square by attempting to set the Guinness world record for the longest kick line, with concurrent events in Washington, D.C. and Miami, Florida.

The Coalition to Prevent DVT is committed to raising awareness of DVT and its major complication, pulmonary embolism (PE). Although DVT affects up to 2 million Americans each year and more people die annually from PE in the U.S. than breast cancer and AIDS combined, 74 percent of Americans know little or nothing about the condition.

The Coalition to Prevent DVT is comprised of 39 national thought leaders and representatives from key organizations, including the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Public Health Association and the Society of Hospital Medicine.
