DIRECT FROM DETROIT - THE CARS OF THE FUTURE ARE HERE!

Background

It's a chance for designers to put their imaginations into overdrive and think beyond the typical four wheels. The North American International Auto Show is the perfect venue for automotive manufacturers to strut their stuff and cast their ideas into concept vehicles.

The 2004 show won't disappoint those daring to dream. More than 12 manufacturers are expected to showcase their sheet metal in at least 16 different cars and trucks.

Automakers like Chevrolet will go retro with a return of 50's nameplate, the Nomad. Saturn hopes its ideas stay "ahead of the curve" with its Curve Concept. Look for Jeep to show off its "go anywhere, do anything" attitude with the new Jeep Rescue and Dodge hopes production vehicle sales boomerang with the introduction of its Sling Shot Concept. Japanese and Korean automakers are expected to take the wraps off their own head turners along with some European makes that will take center stage.
